Our sweet boy, Jake, has left for his forever home. His mom, Sky, came to pick him up. His dad, Art, will be excited to see him when they get home. Jake will also have a fur sister, Roxie, a 10 and a half-year-old Shih Tzu/Cocker mix, and a brother, Jasper, a 3-year-old poodle mix, for company. We will miss him but are very excited that he will have a family of his own to grow with.
Update on Jake, From Sky (His Human Mom)
Hi Linda,
Jake is doing great! He is such a sweet and loving boy. Jasper has been playing with him more, and they often run around together, with Jake trying to catch up. Sometimes, Jasper even chases Jake in the backyard. Roxy, on the other hand, mostly ignores him and remains neutral. However, today I saw Jake nibbling on Roxy’s ear, and she sat quietly for a while before shaking her head (apparently, it tickled!).
Jake has plenty of toys to explore, and he seems happy entertaining himself. He has learned to use the stairs, both going up and down, as well as the dog door. However, he hasn’t quite figured out how to use the dog door to go potty yet, but I’m confident he will get it soon. At night, he sleeps with me in my bed. He jumps on my cedar chest at the foot of the bed and then gets on the bed from there. He did try out the hooded bed, but didn’t stay in it for long, probably because it gets hotter inside.
Art takes all three dogs for a morning walk, covering about a mile. Jake is improving when it comes to walking on the leash. Unfortunately, our groomer can’t fit Jake into her schedule until September 27th. However, it’s supposed to cool off by Saturday. We also have a vet appointment scheduled for him on September 26th.
We’re so thrilled to have Jake as part of our family! Thank you for everything you’re doing to save dogs.
Sky
