Oreo Lee is a rare chocolate piebald Dachshund, 8 years young.
If you looking for a gentle Dachshund with lots of personality and a craving for belly rubs? If so then Oreo Lee is just the Doxie for you!
Oreo weighs 14 lbs, he is up to date on all vaccines, neutered, on heartworm preventative and just had a dental cleaning (during which he lost 17 teeth). He is house trained and crate trained.
He likes people of all ages and other dogs but chases cats. His tail wags nearly all the time and his eyes show his excitement every time he sees you.
Background
Oreo has always had other dogs in his home, so we will be looking for a forever home with at least one other dog. He requires a home with a securely fenced yard for two reasons.
Oreo Lee loves laying in the sun and exploring his space. He is also true to his breed when it comes to his prey drive. Dachshunds were originally bred to hunt badgers.
With no badgers in sight, Oreo turned his senses to any creature smaller than he is. Therefore, he cannot go to a home with cats or other small animals.
Oreo Lee has only lived with children for a couple of months, and their sudden outbursts and quick movements made him uneasy, so he will only go to a home with children over the age of 14.
Oreo is a good passenger in a vehicle and is okay on a leash. He wins the award for giving the Best Cuddles ever! He is also a quiet Dachshund (They DO exist!) with only a rare bark.
Oreo Lee can be silly at times but is always sweet.
He would benefit from Obedience Training teaching him not to pull when on a leash, to gain confidence and to bond with his adopter. Like any dog, Oreo Lee is not perfect, but he sure is close!
10/2/15
Oreo Lee went to his forever home yesterday afternoon. Mom Lisa came for him and Dad Joe met him at home. He now has two Dachshund brothers, Barron and Pumba.
I wish them all the happiness that 3 Doxies can bring!
Congratulations to Oreo and his new family.
So very excited for Lisa and Joe they are a great couple and their Doxie kids are fantastic. Great job Lois
